“Am I OK?” is a 2022 American comedy-drama film by director Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne, written by Lauren Pomerantz that was first premiered at Sundance Film Festival in 2022 and on Max on June 6, 2024. The film stars Dakota Johnson, Sonoya Mizuno, Jermaine Fowler, Kiersey Clemons, Molly Gordon, June Diane Raphael, Tig Notaro and Sean Hayes.
The film follows story of a 32 year old woman, Lucy, residing in Los Angeles that, after dating numerous of men and unsuccessful outcomes, finds out cause as her being lesbian. Taking help of her best friend Jane shapes her dating life and her coming out.
The movie is a contradiction to all traditional coming-of-age stories and touches the unexplored land where a 32 year, who is expected to have everything sorted out till then.
Dakota Johnson’s strong performance along with Sonoya Mizuno are applaudable and elevates the movie experience. The film have a rating of 81% on Rotten Tomatoes and 73% on Metacritic and 6.4/10 on IMBd.
