HBO has unveiled a new teaser for the IT prequel series, Welcome to Derry. Following the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes last year, several HBO projects faced delays, including this exciting spinoff from Andy Muschietti, who continues to explore the universe he created in his recent adaptations of Stephen King’s classic novel.

In IT: Welcome to Derry, Bill Skarsgård returns as Pennywise the Clown, taking us back to the 1960s to witness the events leading up to the original film in Stephen King’s IT saga. Max has just released a fresh preview of their upcoming projects for this year and next, and nestled within the promo is the first glimpse of what to expect from Welcome to Derry.

Though it lasts only five seconds, the teaser effectively sets the tone for the series through a series of seven striking images, each revealing a new element. It opens with a nostalgic scene for IT fans—children riding their bikes under a bridge—before transitioning to a deep red backdrop featuring a man standing in front of it, accompanied by a voice-over stating, “This ain’t America. This is Derry.” The teaser showcases the “Welcome to Derry” sign and a sequence of bloodied individuals in shock, culminating in Pennywise’s chilling laugh and a woman peering through a glass door. While brief, this thrilling sneak peek resonates with the world Muschietti crafted alongside his team in 2017 with IT and again in 2019 with IT: Chapter Two.

Although IT: Welcome to Derry does not yet have a specific release date, it is confirmed to arrive in 2025.
