HBO has many exciting shows up its sleeve, even though House of the Dragon just ended. Before Sunday night’s House of the Dragon Season 2 finale, a two-minute teaser trailer for popular shows slated to debut in 2024 and 2025 was released. This teaser included the first teaser trailer for The Last of Us Season 2.
The events of The Last of Us Part II are anticipated to be the focus of Season 2, which is anticipated to premiere in 2025, following Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey)’s rescue from the Fireflies in Season 1. Though the season’s specifics are still unknown, the short teaser, which debuted shortly after HBO unveiled first-look photos of Joel and Ellie in May, suggested an intense seven-episode run in which Joel conversed with Catherine O’Hara’s anonymous character, who enquired, “Did you hurt her? What happens next? How did you act?” Following brief looks at Jeffrey Wright as Tommy, Isabela Merced, a debutante, and Gabriel Luna as Dina, the trailer returns to an emotional Joel saying, “I saved her.”
Season 2 will also feature Wright (American Fiction), O’Hara in an as-yet-unspecified role, and Merced (Turtles All the Way Down) in addition to Pedro, Ramsey, and Luna. The film features a cast that includes Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick) as Manny, Ariela Barer (Runaways) as doctor Mel, Tati Gabrielle (You) as military medic Nora, Spencer Lord (The Good Doctor) as WLF member Owen, and newcomer Kaitlyn Dever (No One Will Save You) as revenge-seeking soldier Abby. Although O’Hara’s persona is still mostly unclear, the trailer seems to imply that she might be a kind of therapist.
Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann of Naughty Dog are the writers and executive producers of The Last of Us, a co-production with Sony Pictures Television. Executive producers include Carter Swan, Evan Wells, Asad Qizilbash, Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, and Cecil O’Connor. It is anticipated that Season 2 will debut in 2025.
